Script to Automate cPanel Full Backup

Run cPanel full backup from a cron job

If you maintain a website on a host using cPanel, this PHP script lets you schedule full backups to an external FTP server. The script is easy to install and use. Just copy two PHP files to a folder in the root of your web hosting account, edit one of them to include your cPanel and FTP server credentials, then create a cron job in cPanel to run the script on a regular basis.

The full backups created by cPanel contain everything on your site, including mySQL databases and uncollected emails. They are compressed in .tar.gz format, so you can open them and restore lost or modified files using readily available archive tools. If you wish to move to another host using cPanel, just give the new host access to your FTP server and they can download the backup and restore the site exactly as it was on the original server.
